When we were children, our brother Shota often asked questions that made no sense. Our answer was always the same
—“Nooope!”— and it never failed to send him into laughter.
We never knew what it meant to him, but we were simply happy to see him laugh.
Shota, our elder brother, who lives with autism and a severe intellectual disability, and we, the twins, grew up always by his side.
Even now, we cannot let go of the feelings from those days.
And yet one thing is certain: he laughed with the purest joy.
